Corporate Social Responsibility is the soul of business today and a compulsory component of our curriculum at HKIMSR. Mr. Shiv Shankar Santra, Head – CSR from Grasim Industries Limited, an Aditya Birla Group Company highlighted how the European model of business is more focused on operating the core business in a socially responsible manner, complemented by investment in communities. He explained how this model is more sustainable as an integral part of the wealth creation process, enhancing the competitiveness and maximizing the value of the business. He concluded the session with how Indian industry and specially Aditya Birla Group is continuously broadening their community development activities to connect backstream to the mainstream.

Jay Sharma, the man behind the successful campaign of IDEA-Abhishek Bachchan shared with our students the mantra of how simple brands can be made powerful. Using the example of !dea campaign, Mr. Sharma explained brand itself tells us or let us imagine how good or bad the product is even if we never used or consumed it before! And, this behavior could easily be simulated or controlled by using an effective advertising campaign. He gave an insight on how the entire series of campaign with Abhishek Bachchan was conceptualised and executed. He also mentioned about the Green Environment campaign on saving paper boomeranged with the paper manufacturer’s association mis-interpreting and then protesting the entire campaign. It was one hell of a branding session.
