


The H.K. Institute of Management Studies & Research, Mumbai held its first Convocation Ceremony for the MMS batch of 2008-10 on 14th of May, 2011 at the institute’s auditorium. The occasion was graced by Mr. T R. Doongaji, the Former Managing Director TCS, as the chief guest. It was a day of fond remembrance and achievement for the HKIMSR graduates who received their degrees – a golden day to be etched in the history of HKIMSR.
The Convocation Ceremony started with the lighting of the lamp of wisdom by the Chief Guest Mr. T R. Doongaji, Prof Krishna C. Pandey and all faculty members.
Prof. Krishna C. Pandey, the Director of the institution then welcomed the former students, teachers and parents. He updated the students on various college activities that have happened since they left the campus, and acknowledged their contribution for laying the foundation for events like International Conference, Management Conclave (ETHOS), etc., which has now become annual events. Prof. Pandey concluded his welcome note reminding the students of their responsibility to their parents, teachers, society and the nation.
Prof. Tamojit Ghosh Roy, the marketing faculty and Programme Head (PGDM), emphasised convocation as a moment for the students to accept the responsibility of being the flag bearers of the institute. He concurred that they no longer remained students but became brand ambassadors of the institute. And, as they individually grow, collectively it will reflect on the image of the institute. Prof. Dipika Singh, the other marketing faculty, addressed them as the torch bearers of this Institute and strongly emphasised that they will always be remembered as the asset to this Institute.
Mr. T R Doongaji, a renowned corporate personality who served Tata Group for 42 years as Managing Director for two of the group companies and Jt. Managing Director for one of the Tata Company enlightened the graduating students with his immense wisdom and experience. A former TAS Gold Medalist and J.N. Tata Scholar, advised young professionals to focus on four pillars of successful enterprise:
The conclusion of an inspiring speech was followed by ringing the auspicious bell to award degree certificates to the students wearing smart-robes. The award of degrees was followed by the felicitations of the best academic performers in each of the specializations and the Best Student Award. The graduating students were overwhelmed to receive their degrees from Mr. T.R. Doongaji Sir.
The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks and graduating students cherished the moment with a picture-perfect ‘tossing the hats’ to make their convocation day memorable.
