Academic Overview

AT HKIMSR, WE PUT LEADERSHIP LESSONS INTO PRACTICE INSIDE & OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

A decision can only be shaped up as a definitive course of action, when theory practice, experience and talent converge at a focal point. What can be done, how it can be done and what you will do – these are three critical questions that culminate to successful decision making.

HKIMSR offers pedagogy and a teaching methodology that aims to develop leadership geniuses for the future. Everything from class simulations to case study solutions, from field-based learning to international engagements, culminates in one larger lesson – what it means to assume leadership within an ever-bulging, ever-changing world.

The thorough engagement in the classrooms, collaborative learning methods, learning from the industrial practitioners, is a coercive effort to help the students learn the art of managerial and leadership skills that is practiced in business and beyond. The engagement is rigorous, stakes are high, returns are risk-aversive, and therefore the curriculum demands are challenging and manifold.

When you leave HKIMSR, you know what you ASPIRED, had the opportunity to EXPLORE and finally ACHIEVED it. Your real takeaways are the managerial and leadership lessons - that are precious for lifetime achievements.

COLLABORATIVE LEARNING

The programmes include multiple group projects and thus engage them in learning in groups. In a group project, a student is immersed in diverse learning teams that help to develop leadership confidence through mutual challenges and encouragement. This learning model also facilitates the exchange of ideas and experiences among students in a very informally formal manner.

CONNECTING THEORY TO PRACTICE

Our approach to the case method of learning represents the most demanding, engaging, and provocative way to learn about the skills of managerial leadership. The classroom discussions on management theories are simulated through practical works that enables the students to distinctly connect theories to practice. But does the model helps in achieving results in the corporate world? The best measure could be the success of our batch 2008-2010 (first batch of MMS graduates), many of them securing fat packages in the blue chip companies. Most of them have attributed their success to the teaching methods and interactions with peers and teachers, as crucial success factors, giving them the knowledge, the skills, and confidence to be successful in the corporate world.

We relentlessly work towards providing a solid foundation that serves our students for a lifetime, even on the roads less travelled.
